"Understanding the essence through detailed explanation."

With this motto in mind, Her Holiness Akkaswami Velankar started the Dasbodh Sakhol Abhyas a comprehensive study of Dasbodh in the year 1984. The program was subsequently conducted by Late Shri. Vasantrao Gadgil and after him by Late Shri. Suhas Agarkar. From 2018 the program is being conducted by Shri. Dr. Vijay Lad very very efficiently.

With the goal of “Developing Passionate spiritual Seekers”, Her Holiness Akkaswami formulated a set of rules as per which the program should be run. It has undergone a few favourable changes and the graph of Fame of the program is continuously ascending to more heights.

Salient features of this program are: –

  • No publicity is done anywhere about admission to this program.
  • Admissions are given in the program from June to September of every year.
  • Only those candidates are eligible to take admission who have either completed the three-year introductory correspondence course of Dasbodh (Dasbodh Abhyas) or have passed the final proficiency examination conducted by Samartha Vidyapeetha (University).
  • A question paper is sent as homework for admission. And admission to the program is granted only if the answers for the same are satisfactory.
  • Along with the study of Dasbodh , one also simultaneously studies Manobodh, Bhagavad Gita and biography of Shri. Samarth Ramdas, while doing study for this self-study program.
  • The study course is generally completed in five to seven years and a certificate of appreciation is awarded on completion of the course.
  • On completion of 200 lessons, the students are honoured as prescribed by Akkaswami Velankar.
  • The selection process is also prescribed for selecting reviewers as per the guidelines given by Akkaswami Velankar for this Detailed Study program of Dasbodh (Dasbodh Sakhol Abhyas).
  • A six-year course (Samikshakancha Swadhyaya) for the reviewers has been also prescribed for the selected critic reviewers.
  • Students who have completed 200 self-study courses (Swadhyay) are allowed to do a separate supplementary course (Dasbodh Puravani Abhyas), developed by Late Shri. Tatyasaheb Gadgil.
  • A seven-day study conference “Sadhana Saptah”(Sadhana Week)  is organised from “Kojagari Poornima” the Full moon night that falls in the first half of “Ashwin” month as per Hindu calendar at Holy Shivthar Ghal the birthplace of Shri. Dasbodh. The students, the mentors as well as the reviewers gather for this conference.
  • The year 2025 is the fortieth year of such a conference “Sadhana Saptah”(Sadhana Week).
  • For reviewers and mentors too, a two-day ‘Samishak Melawa’ is held every year. In this meeting, various  problems faced, feedback and quality of the initiative are discussed so as to take necessary corrective measures.
  • The program also runs a website i.e. a digital platform by name “ramdasswami-sahityashodh”  for literature search. All literature written by Shri.   • The birthplace of Shri. Dasbodh, mainly maintained by “Shivtharghal Sundarmath Seva Samiti”, was given a donation of Rs. Eleven Lakh Eleven Thousand One Hundred and One as an aid after the catastrophic rainfall in July 2021.
